THe body mistaking 2M fibers in the muscles of the jaw for bacteria
How is Masticatory muscle myositis diagnosed?
By biopsy of the temporalis or masseter muscles or the 2M antibody assay
How is Masticatory muscle myositis treated?
Coricosteroids (Prednisone)
Feeding very soft or liquid food during recovery
What is Masticatory muscle myositis often misdiagnosed as?
Retroorbital abscess
