Q

FGM flight guidance modules what do they do?

A

FGM 1 is the master and controls FD, AP, YD and auto pitch trim.
FGM 2 slaves to number 1 but they can both operate independently to make calcs
Both must work to have AP and YD

Q

What does VOR OS mean?

A

VOR over-station mode when the signal is unreliable over the VOR the FD provides commands to maintain HDG equivalent to the selected course. Once it gets past that and the signal is reliable again it’ll go back to VOR

19
Q

PITCH TRIM caution light indicates?

A

Pitch trim system failure

20
Q

YD NOT CENTERED means?

A

Yaw damper actuator is normally centered after disengagement of YD however after certain AFCS failures it may not recenter and you’ll get this message on the PFD

21
Q

ADC 1 being displayed on your primary flight display indicates?

A

Both PFDs are using data from a single ADC

22
Q

Should DUAL FD fail to appear on the PFDs during an ILS approach (LOC/GS modes) a possible cause may be?

A

A frequency mismatch between ILS1 and ILS2

23
Q

Changing the EFIS ATT/ HDG SOURCE with the autopilot disengaged will?

A

Remove the flight directors and all modes from the display

24
Q

Armed flight modes are displayed on the flight mode annunciator (FMA) in?

A

White

25
Q

Pressing the STBY push button with the autopilot disengaged will?

A

Remove the flight directors and all modes from display

26
Q

The autopilot will automatically disengage when roll attitude exceeds?

A

50 degrees

27
Q

During the TCS mode?

A

All of the above.

Flight director mode valves modified by TCS are replaced with dashes
TCS replaces the AP indication on the PFDs
The flight director bars are removed from view

28
Q

Pressing the HSI SEL push button with the AP disengaged will?

A

Remove the flight directors and all modes from display

29
Q

With the EFIS ADC source set to NORM, PFD 2 will be supplied with air stats information from

A

ADC 2

30
Q

Which of the following is not a vertical flight mode?

A

PITCH SEL

31
Q

A flight mode with an asterisk on the flight mode annunciator (FMA) indicates?

A

The flight mode is in the capture phase

32
Q

QantasLink policy in relation to back course approaches is?

A

Back course approaches must not be flown

33
Q

Which of the following is not a lateral mode?

A

ROLL SEL

34
Q

When NAV is selected on the flight guidance control panel with the FMS as the navigation source?

A

LNAV appears in reverse video

35
Q

The HDG HOLD lateral flight director mode is available when?

A

WINGS LVL has been active for 10 seconds with bank angle of less than 3 degrees

36
Q

The message FLD FAIL on the flight mode annunciator (FMA) indicates?

A

FGM1 has failed

37
Q

Localiser capture is indicated oh the flight mode annunciator by?

A

LOC* in green

38
Q

AUTO TRIM FAIL being displayed on the flight mode annunciator indicates a failure of the ?

A

Flap auto pitch trim function

39
Q

Autopilot engagement is inhibited above?

A

20 degrees pitch attitude

40
Q

What does FGCP
FGM
YDAU
APAU Stand for ?

A

Flight guidance control panel
Flight guidance Modules
Yaw damper actuator unit
Autopilot actuator unit

41
Q

The Flight Control
Electronic Control Unit, or FCECU, gives priority to manual pitch trim commands from the flight crew. If pitch trim is manually activated with. the autopilot engaged, the

A

autopilot (AP) will disengage.

42
Q

Does an autopilot pitch trim system failure disengage the autopilot?

A

No

43
Q

Can you engage the AP with the autopilot pitch trim system failed ?

A

Yes

44
Q

What’s the yaw damper do and how much authority?

A

The Yaw Damper (YD) minimises Dutch roll tendencies and coordinates turns.
Mechanical stops limit
Yaw Damper (YD)
authority to a maximum of 4.5 degrees of rudder travel.

45
Q

The ROLL HOLD lateral flight director mode is available between…?

A

6-45 degrees
