calcium, carbonate (chew), magnesium hydroxide (suspension/tablet), magnesium hydroxide/aluminum hydroxide (suspension, tab)

  • MOA: neutralize HCl acid, decrease pesin activity, promote healing, decrease inflammation, antagonist to ETOH

no constipation or diarrhea

A

famtodine (IV/PO), cimetidine (IV/PO), nizatidine (PO)

  • MOA: reduce gastric acid by blocking H2 receptor on stomach, promote healing of ulcer
  • SE: Genital, CNS, GI

A

pantoprazole (IV/PO), omeprazole (PO)

  • MOA: reduce gastric acid, oral peak effect after several days
  • SE: GI, brain, physical, organ

  • MOA: reacts with gastric acid and forms a paste, adheres to ulcer protecting it
  • SE: constipation, hyperglycemia
