Anatomy of the heart Flashcards
Fibrous pericardium?
It is a protective sheath.
Epicardium?
It covers the anterior layer of the heart.
Pericardial cavity?
Formed by two layers of serous pericardium.
Cardiac tamponade?
Caused by build up of fluid, such as blood, in the pericardial cavity.
Position of the apex?
5t intercostal space, midclavicular line
Pericardial sinus?
Space posterior to the ascending aorta and the pulmonary trunk.
Coronary groove?
Boundary between the right atrium and ventricle.
Right coronary artery is found here.
Anterior interventricular groove?
Boundary between the 2 ventricles.
Site of the LAD artery.
Coronary sinus?
Venous conduit which receives deoxygenated blood from cardiac veins, and drains into the right atrium.
Right coronary artery supplies…
the inferior aspect of the heart
The Left Anterior Descending artery supplies…
the antero-lateral aspect of the heart
Left circumflex artery supplies…
the lateral aspect of the heart
Coronary sinuses?
Theses are spaces within the cusps of valves.
Where do coronary arteries arise?
From the right and left aortic sinuses.
Auscultation positions on the precordium?
aortic - R 2nd intercostal space
pulmonic - L 2nd ICS
tricuspid - 4th L ICS
mitral - 5th ICS, mid-clavicular line
