allogeneic stem cell transplanation Flashcards
for which reasons are hematopoietic stem cell transplantations performed
- as a rescue procedure after chemo
- as a way to reset the immune system
- to recplace a non funcitonal or dysfunctional bone marrow
- to perform allogeneic cellular immune therapy for malignant disorders
which disorders are treated with autologous SCTs
lymphomas and multiple myelomas
which disorders are treated by alloSCT
genetic disorders, acquired stem cell failure syndormes, haematological malignancies
Host versus graft (HVG)
t cells from patients can reject the stem cells from the donor
GVHD (graft versus host disease)
t cells in the graft coming from the donor can react with various cells from the patient
GVL (graft versus leukaemia)
wanted rejection, T cells from the graft attack the leukaemia cells
how can prevention of graft rejeciton be done
by suppression of T cells from the patient by chemotherapy or irradiation
which tissues will mostly be affected by graft versus host disease
liver, intestine, lung, skin
what is the corelation between GVHD and the cange of relapse
the higher the GVHD the lower the change of relapse
