What is assertive behaviour
This is when the individual is playing with emotion and within the rule of the game
It is goal directed
Not intended to harm or injure
Uses legitimate force
Does no break rules
Instrumental aggression
Displays aggressive behaviour in the pursuit of a non aggressive goal. Falls into contact sports ( martial arts)
Hostile aggression
Is aggressive behaviour with the sole intention of harming or injuring an opponent it is never within the rule of the sport
Relational aggression
Non physical form of aggression usually aimed at cause psychological or emotional harm

Instinct theory
Social learning theory
Frustration-aggression theory
Instinct theory
Suggests we have instinct to be aggressive that build up. This aggression can be released towards another being or through socially acceptable means such as sport
Social learning theory for aggression
Says aggression is a behaviour learned by observing others and experiencing reinforcement for such behaviours
Frustration-aggression theory
Says aggression comes from being frustrated by not achieving goals or having progress blocked
