attachment security is built up through the mirroring that goes on in attachment relations
-reading thoughts and feelings around us
What are internal working models
mental representations constructed during childhood and based primary on early experiences w sig caregivers
–these internal models become the foundation of our later expectations and attitudes towards others and the world around us
what is attachment relationship determined by (3)
proximity seeking behaviours- desire to be near ppl we are attached to
Safe haven- returning to the attachment figure for comfort and safety in the face of threat
Seperation distress- Anxiety that occurs in the absence of the attachment figure

What is disorganized attachment style
They show violence or angry behaviours that are followed or interrupted by opposing displays, appear to lack observable goals etc
What conditions likely lead to disorganized attachment style (3)
A. having a caregiver who is disorganized themselves and therefore unable to provide the level of regulation needed
B. Experiences of maltreatment abuse or neglect
C. Experiences of a parent having a violent partner
What is complex trauma
experiences of multiple traumatic events within the caregiver system, in place of the safety and stability that is normally provided
What is reactive attachment disorder
Is a attachment noted in children who’ve experienced extreme deprivation
-result of pathogenic care (persistent disregard of the childs basic emotional needs)
What is inhibited reactive attachment disorder
children with inhibited reactive attachement disorder no longer show signs or symptoms once they come in contact w proper care
what is disinhibited reactive attachment disorder
the child or adolescent shows indiscriminate sociability, inappropriate familiar or selective in choice in attachment figures, seeks attention from anyone, displays inappropriate childish behaviour, frequently asks for help in doing things, and violates social boundaries
