Guillain-Barre Syndrome
Acute viral infection that triggers the production of autoantibodies, which damage the myelin sheath covering the peripheral nerves; causes rapid, progressive loss of motor function, ranging from muscle weakness to full-body paralysis.
Myasthenia Gravis
Disease characterized by episodic muscle weakness triggered by an autoimmune attack of the acetylcholine receptors.
Hypertrophy
An increase in the size or bulk of an organ or structure; caused by growth rather than by a tumor.
Gangrene
Death of tissue or bone, usually from an insufficient blood supply.
Sensorium
Sensory apparatus of the body as a whole; also that portion of the brain that functions as a center of sensations.
Cellulitis
Inflammation of cellular or connective tissue.
Turgor
Ability of the skin to return to normal appearance after being subjected to pressure.

Chronic dilation of a bronchus or bronchi, with a secondary infection typically involving the lower portion of the lung.

Small surgical opening that a surgeon makes from the anterior neck into the trachea

Surgical diversion of the urinary tract to a stoma, or hole, in the abdominal wall.
