Heat regulation
Glycogen and fats is “responsible” for heat regulation
Piglets have poor heat regulation, if not getting colostrum they will freeze to death
Their glycogen storage only lasts for 2 hours
Colostrum importance
Immunoglobulins (antibodies, frist 48h)
Energy–> thermoregulation
Also effect GI development: Colostral peptides, insulin, epidermal growth factor, insulin like growth
