Q

+ Eval: Inter-rater reliability

A
  • Brazelton et al: controlled observations; filmed interactions from several angles
  • allows for valid conclusions to be drawn
  • Independant observers can watch tapes and compare findings

Q
  • Eval: Young Children and Intention
A
  • unable to establish if actions of babies are meaningful, especially as they have little/no motor coordination
  • Bremmer: ‘behaviour response vs understanding’ : just because act appears reciprocal, doesn’t mean child understands purpose of either reciprocity or intersectional synchrony
