7.3 Study Guide Flashcards
Are anabolic reactions endergonic or exergonic?
They are endergonic.
What is the difference between ATP and ADP?
ATP is a fully energized metabolism molecule, while ADP is a metabolism molecule that doesn’t have a lot of energy.
What are some differences between combustion and cellular respiration?
Combustion has glucose as a reactant instead of carbon-based molecules. Combustion also only happens once, while cellular respiration happens constantly.
How is combustion and cellular respiration the same?
They both release energy and turn the reactants into products.
What are anabolic reactions?
Anabolic reactions are when a reaction takes place that makes larger molecules out of smaller molecules (synthesis).
What are catabolic reactions?
Catabolic reactions are when a reaction takes place that breaks down larger molecules into smaller molecules.
What are endergonic reactions?
Endergonic reactions are when a reaction take place that requires more energy than it releases.
What are exergonic reactions?
