Q

Define negative feedback

A
  • A change to the normal/optimal level that initiates a response
  • Of corrective measures, which reduces the affect, acting against the change

Q

Define positive feedback

A
  • A change to the normal/optimal level that intitates a response
  • That leads to the production of more hormones to further deviate from normal/optimal levels

Q

Explain why temperature control in homeostasis is important

A
  • Body temperature is optimum temperature for enzymes
  • High heat denatures enzymes, by altering their tertiary structure, and shape of active site
  • Low heat reduces kinetic energy of molecules
  • So fewer collisions
  • So fewer enzyme-substrate complexs form
  • Reaction slowed
