What is Gestational Diabetes?
Insulin deficiency/resistant.Gastational Diabetes shows 26 to 28 weeks of pregnancy
How to detect Diabetes?
By HbA1c level
Normal: 40 mmol/mol or below
Pre-diabetes: 41–49 mmol/mol
Diabetes: 50 mmol/mol or above
Treatment of T2 Diabetes?
Use of insulin
Healthy eating
Exercise
How to use insulin?
- Load the pen
- Mix the pen by Rotating up and down on your palm. around 15 TO 20 times, Just check if there is any cloud in it. But DO NOT SHAKE.
- Prime by dialing up 1 to 2 units before injecting to take away any air bubbles.
- Injection site : fold skin of your stomach,then inject
- Take out the needle at the same angle to prevent bruising
Dispose: Discard the sharps safely
How to store Insulin?
Keep the used pen at the room temperature
Keep the unopened cartridge in the fridge
Prevention of Gestational Diabetes?
Controlling body weight –BMI <30
Healthy Diet
Regular exercise.
Complications of gestational diabetes?
Premature birth, Miscarriage, Overweight baby, Scesearian section delivery, Baby increased risk of developing diabetes, or obese
What is the preferred insulin injection site?
Abdomen(Start from rib cage to your hips) as you far laterally as you can comfortably reach.
Rotate the sites so that you don’t wanna return at the same place again and again. You should be 2 fingers away of your belly each time.
First, hold the pen like a writing pen, then firmly hold your belly with another hand then push the niddle and then press the end of the pen with the same hand or with another hand. Once you inject the entire solution then hold it for 10 seconds before removing the needle.
Detach the needle and dispose of it in a puncture-proof container.
