Sypmtoms?

A

little blisters
crusty
These then break and start to weep, usually pus or sometimes a clearer liquid.
Yellowish pus
Itching, burning sensation

Treatment?

A

First Clean off scabs and crusts. Take hot shower so that crust easier to remove

Topical antiseptics for cleaning
Povidone-iodine -Betadine ointment. Apply ffected area/TID
Hydrogen peroxide-Crystaderm cream

Use Topical antibiotics:
Fusidic acid- Foban ointment or Mupirocin ointment

Oral antibiotics :
1st line -flucloxacillin bullous impetigo|extensive or recurrent infection
5-7 day course

Self Care?

A

Good skin hygiene measures
Wash hands with soap and dry
Do not share towels, soap and face towels.
Wash your child’s clothes, towels and bed linen separately
Avoid swimming until all the sores have healed.
