Migraine symptoms with “Aura” Sensory disturbance?
Recurrent headache gives warning signs before an hour “starting migraine headache”
A warning like flashing lights, zigling lines, and feeling pins and needles in your hand/face.
Migraine symptoms without Aura?
Severe headache in one side of head
Last 4 hours to 3 days
Nauseous, Vomiting
Dizziness
Irritated to lights and sounds
Children’s symptoms for Migraine?
Nausea and Vomiting with diarrhea
Increased urination sweating and thirst.
Self Care for Migraine patient?
Stay hydrated, drink plenty of fluid
Use a cold compress on your head and relax in a dark quiet room
Eat regularly, rest
Avoid smoking
Do regular Exercise
Relax, meditation, Yoga
Treatment of Migraine?
Sumatriptan (PO) but avoid in pregnancy,kids under 6 yrs
Prochlorperazine for (nausea and vomiting) 2+ yrs
NSAIDS best for kids (after 30 Wks NO in pregnancy)
Paracetamol
Codeine
Prochlorperazine Buccal tablet BD. placed between gums to dissolve, Improvement would show in 60 mins
Migraine Red Flags:
Experiencing first time after 50 years of age
Severe headache, fever, Blood pressure, Seizure, confusion
Pregnancy,
Caution for Prochlorperazine?
Not suitable for below 2 years age
Prochlorperazine makes you dizzy, avoid driving, or running heavy vehicles.
Do not drink alcohol.
