3.3 Flashcards
π
What are trophic levels?
Where the species falls in the food web. (Producer, primary consumer, secondary consumer)
What is autotroph?
Gets nutrients from unconventional means, usually plants photosynthesizing
What is heterotroph?
Eats more complex organisms. Literally anything that isnβt an autotroph.
What does an omnivore eat?
plants AND animals
What does a carnivore eat?
MEAT
What does a herbivore eat?
Plants
What does a detritivore eat?
dead things
What is the difference between a food web and a trophic cascade diagram?
A food web shows what organisms eat and a trophic Cascade diagrams shows what the organisms affect in an environment. That could include abiotic factors.
How do you determine what trophic level an organism is?
If an organism produces their own food like a plant, they are a producer.
If an organism eats a producer, they are a primary consumer.
If an organism eats a primary consumer, they are a secondary consumer.
If an organism eats a secondary consumer, they are a tertiary consumer.
