  • Law and Order: police force introduced, got rid of some uncivilised sports
  • Education: 1870 act, RSPCA introduced
  • Gender: still women weaker sex, Victorian stereotypes
    Income: little money for long hrs
  • Time: little time - Saturday half day
  • Transport: railways
