- Large amounts of time devoted to sport in schools to develop it
- Developed leagues
- Ex schoolboys spread the cult

- Encouraged effort over winning
- Encouraged development of codified sport
- Encouraged to play with fair play and sportsmanship
Promotion of ethics
Ethics -> principles or rules that govern behaviour
Headmasters encouraged sports due to belief that they would build character and instill values such as:
- Leadership
- Courage
- Sportsmanship
- Endeavour
- Teamwork
- Respect
The spread and export of games and ethics
- TEACHERS: promoting importance of sports and teaching others
- ARMY OFFICERS: spread sports internationally and increasing morale and fitness of soldiers
- PARENTS: influenced children by sending them to same schools
- VICARS/ PRIESTS: joined church. forming Parish teams, joined missionaries travelling internationally
- INDUSTRIALISTS: factory owners, keen to start work sports teams
- COMMUNITY LEADERS AND POLITICIANS: establishing local sports clubs and government roles
