Michael: Good morning, Julia, I’m calling to inform you that your application for the study abroad programme has been accepted.
Julia: Super, ich bin so glücklich! Handelt es sich um ein Semester?
Julia: Great, I’m so happy! Is it for a semester?
Michael: Nein, es handelt sich um das gesamte akademische Jahr.
Michael: No, it’s actually for the academic year .
Julia: Und was ist mit der Unterkunft, habe ich einen Platz im Studentenwohnheim bekommen?
Julia: And what about accommodation, did I get into the halls of residence?
Michael: Tut mir leid, leider nicht. Wir haben dir jedoch eine Gastfamilie ausgewählt und vorgeschlagen.
Michael: I’m afraid not, but we have recommended a host family for you.
Julia: Das ist doch nicht so schlecht. Vielleicht finde ich nicht so viele Freunde, aber zumindest gewinne ich einen Einblick in die Kultur. Außerdem werden sich meine Sprachfertigkeit und meine Aussprache verbessern und das sind schließlich die Gründe, warum ich ins Ausland will.
Julia: That’s not so bad. I might not make as many friends, but at least I’ll be immersed in the culture. Also, my fluency and pronunciation will improve, which is my main reason for going.
Michael: Gut zu hören! Die Einführungsveranstaltung findet am 27. August statt, also nimm dir bitte für diesen Tag nichts vor.
Michael: Good to hear! Now, the orientation meeting will take place on the 27th of August, so please be available on that date.
Julia: Ich dachte, es wäre später. Ich bin an diesem Tag im Urlaub!
Julia: I thought it would have been later, I’m on holiday that day!
