In wheelslip conditions on 158, what should you do with the power throttle?
Leave it where it is- do not reduce or close the throttle as this reduces the time window for manual sand to be applied and will prevent sand from working
What are your actions in wheelslip on 158?
Wait for engine revs to drop and then press manual sand button
Is there any indication when sand is being applied in the cab?
No
Which wheel does sand operate on?
Both 3rd wheels- first driven wheel
Where is the sander isolation switch located?
In the cab
If there is an electrical fault on the sander system, what could this result in?
BCCB tripping, TCCB tripping or wheelslip MCB tripping
Can EBS overcome a fault with the sander?
No, it will continue to exist if EBS raised on same vehicle
Does the 158 have flashing headlights?
Yes
When would you use the flashing headlights?
To indicate something is wrong to an approaching train, if not able to control the speed of your train or if you want to alert anyone to another emergency
On some 158s there is a remote supply/alternator excitation- what does this do?
Activated for front or rear illumination that can be used in event of an engine failure to cross feed between vehicles
