How to calculate mean, median, and standard deviation

A

To calculate mean, add all the values together, then divide them by the amount in the group of numbers.
To find the median, look for the center number or two numbers in the group of numbers, if there are two, find the mean between those two.
To find standard deviation, find the mean of all the numbers, then find the variance of each value from the mean and square and add them all together before dividing them by the amount, then find the square root of the variance for the standard deviation.

Q

What axes do the dependent and independent variables separately go on?

A

The dependent variable always goes on the y axis, and the independent variable goes on the x axis.

Q

What are direct, indirect, constant, non-linear, and peak variable relationships in graphs?

A

Direct relationships are when both the dependent and independent variables are steadily increasing together.
Indirect relationships are when one variable increases, the other decreases.
Constant relationships are when the independent variable does not affect the dependent variable at all.
Non-linear relationships are when the variables plotted on the graph cannot be accurately represented with a straight line.
Peak relationships are when the dependent variable increases sharply, then immediately decreases, forming a “peak” in the graph.
