What are the two key words to remember when describing both Greek and Roman ‘religion’

A

Greek: Hiera ‘holy affairs’
Roman: Religio ‘the correct worship of the state gods’
This is because you didn’t just believe in the gods it was about actions and physical worship

A

Poly meaning many and Theos meaning gods it simply means many gods
As both the Roman’s and Greek had hundreds of gods with their own unique skills

Anthropos means human and Morphe means form

A

By looking and acting like humans they where more relatable to both societies further more it explained the relationship between gods and the G’s and R’s
As the gods where to be honored and revered as they too could be happy, angry, generous or selfish, Medici fun or vengeful
