–ようが–まいが is the set phrase to express the idea of “irrespective of —” or “whether or
not —.” So, it is followed by the main clause and means that what is said in the main
clause is irrespective of the sub-clause with –ようが–まいが used. The structure of –よう
が–まいが is usually like “verb. volitional + が + verb(class I). plain + まい が.” or “verb.
volitional + が + verb(class II/III). negative + まい が.” まい was originally the auxiliary verb
to make negative volitionals.
