What is a warrior task?
A skill that an individual Soldier learns critical to Soldier’s
survival. (Examples include First aid, weapons training,
tactical communication, urban operations)
What is a battle drill?
Battle Drills are group skills designed to teach a unit to
react and survive in common combat situations (Examples
include, react to ambush, react to chemical attack, and
evacuate injured personnel)
What is the purpose of a WTBD?
To enhance a Soldier’s Readiness to fight on the battlefield
What do commanders use to develop their unit-training plan?
The METL (Mission Essential Task List)
What are the 9 Warrior battle drills?
- React to Contact (visual, improvised explosive device
[IED], direct fire). - React to Ambush (Near).
- React to Ambush (Far).
- React to Indirect Fire.
- React to a Chemical Attack.
- Break Contact.
- Dismount a Vehicle.
- Evacuate Wounded Personnel from Vehicle.
- Establish Security at the Halt.
Task summaries document the performance requirements of a
critical warrior task. They provide the Soldier and the trainer with
the information necessary to evaluate critical tasks. In the
training and evaluation guide there are two parts, what are they?
- Performance steps – individual steps that the Soldier
must complete - Performance evaluation – How to evaluate a Soldier’s
performance of the task
