Question 3

Situational Question: Your Soldier calls you and says they want
to commit suicide what do you do as a leader?

Answer 3

Use ACE. Ask if they are going to kill themselves and how,
Care for them, maybe start driving to where they live, try to
talk them out of it or distract them with small talk. Escort;
notify the MPs, Fire department, notify the chain of
command to let them know the situation. Get them to the
hospital for evaluation.

Situational Question: You notice your Soldier is acting strange
and you notice they start giving away their property. How do you
handle this situation as a leader?

Answer 4

Use ACE. Pull the Soldier aside; ask them if they are
suicidal. If they say yes, start getting them help
immediately. Care for them and Escort them to the
chaplain, behavioral health, hospital etc.
