What regulation covers Army Community Service (ACS) and
what does ACS do?
ACES programs and services to improve the
Army by expanding soldier skills and knowledge to
produce confident, competent leaders. Army education
centers offer a wide variety of programs such as
certificates, associates, bachelors, and master’s degrees.
What regulation covers the Army Emergency Relief program
(AER) and what is their purpose?
AR 930-4, AER is a private, nonprofit organization to collect
that provides emergency financial assistance to soldiers
(active and retired) and their families in time of distress.

What regulation covers the Army Red Cross program and what
is their purpose?
AR 930-5, communication between Soldier’s and their
families for problem solving and emergency notifications.
What regulation covers Army Retention and what is their
purpose?
AR 601-280, Reenlist RA Soldiers.
What regulation covers the ASAP Program and what is their
purpose?
AR 600-85, A program designed to strengthen the overall
fitness of the Army by eliminating alcohol/drug
abuse.
While not a part of ASAP, Substance Use Disorder Clinical
Care (SUDCC) supports the Army’s strategy to prevent
substance abuse within the Army and provide treatment
services when clinically indicated.
What regulation covers the BOSS program and what is their
purpose?
AR 215-1 Ch 8. Opportunities for active duty single soldiers
to participate in physical, self-development, leisure and
educational services.
What regulation covers SFL-TAP and what is their purpose?
AR 600-81, A program designed to provide transition
assistance and employment assistance to Soldiers their
family members and DA Civilians.
What is the purpose of DEERS?
Program to identify eligible military dependents, use to
secure ID cards for them.
Situational Question: You have a Soldier that is one of your best
Soldiers. They failed the unit urinalysis. What can you do as a
leader?
As a leader, since it is the commander’s program, the only
thing you can do is counsel them and make sure they are
going to their appointments at the ASAP clinic.
- What would happen… Counseled by the commander,
take another urinalysis, interviewed by CID, Flag
initiated, Enrolled in ASAP, UCMJ action, Urinalysis once
a month or more (commanders discretion). Your job as a
leader is to make sure they attend their appointments
and are doing the right thing.
Situational Question: You find out your Soldier has an alcohol
addiction, what can you do as a leader?
You can tell them they can self-refer themselves to ASAP or
they can be self-referred by the commander.
Who has the ultimate decision regarding separation of abusers?
The Soldier’s Chain of Command
What is meant by Deglamorization of alcohol?
Alcohol will not become the purpose or focus of any social
activity.
