Lactation mastitis
Manage with oral flucloxacillin and encourage continued breast feeding
Postnatal depression
Ongoing and needs assessment with tools such as Edinburgh depression scale
Endometriosis
Laparoscopy is the gold standard investigation
Cervical smear
- if HPV positive then repeat smear in 24 months
- if HPV negative repeat smear in 3 years
Hysterectomy
Complications include vaginal vault prolapse
Depo-provera
Contraceptive depo injection that is associated with weight gain
COCP
If two pills missed in week 1 consider emergency contraception
Endometrial hyperplasia
In postmenopausal woman offer laparoscopic total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy
COCP
High levels of oestrogen can cause cervical ectropion
Pre-eclampsia
Raised blood pressure and proteinuria that needs hospital admission
Pre-eclampsia
If symptoms then plan for immediate delivery and give IV magnesium sulfate
HRT
Contraindicated in vaginal bleeding, endometrial cancer and previous DVT
Gestational diabetes
Fasting glucose greater than 7 needs insulin
Urinary incontinence
First urinalysis to test for UTI and diabetes mellitus
Eclampsia
Give magnesium sulfate
