How did winning hearts and minds allow German people to be controlled?
Point: positive propaganda mad them feel a part of something important.
Evidence: Nuremberg rally 1934 had 250,000 people
Analysis: so many people turned up to the nazi rally therefore making them feel a part of something and so they wouldn’t want to oppose the nazis because they felt like they belonged after such hard times after WW1.
How did fear mean the German people were controlled?
Point: punishments were so sever no one wanted to oppose
Evidence: concentration camps set up in 1933 for political prisoners (any opposers) where forced labour occurred
Analysis: no one dared to oppose because they could be killed or imprisoned and they wanted their lives so they didn’t dare to oppose.
How did misinformation allow the German people to be controlled?
Point: censorship of any non nazi ideologies brainwashed people
Evidence: 2/3 newspapers run by nazis
Analysis: constant bombardment of nazi ideas meant people were slowly brainwashed and so thought nazis were correct so they believed whatever they told them to.
How did a climate of fear allow German people to be controlled?
Point: nazi terror organisations made people feel they couldn’t speak negatively against the regime
Evidence: 15,000 secret police called gestapo listening in on phone calls.
Analysis: people could not consider very sating anything negative about the nazis because anyone could be listening and send them away to a concentration camp. This meant they were easily controlled as no one would be negative at all thefore there could be no chance of opposition if they were constantly watching you and even if they weren’t people didn’t know so they never said anything.
