How Effcetive Were Nazis In Developing Volskgemeinschaft? Flashcards
How did jobs help?
Point: men got employment opportunities
Evidence: 6 million unemployed in 1933 but none in 1939
Analysis: incredible transformation meant people and families could all get a job and so live well and have a house and so quality of life got better for the German people who were recently struggling to put food on the table.
How did Benefits help?
Point: German labour front gave benefits making them feel part of a community
Evidence: strength through joy organised cheap sports, leisure and entertainment
Analysis: workers felt part of a community and had an interesting and fun life which made them feel valued and equal to others when they wouldn’t have had anything like this before
How did redistribution help?
Point: winter relief meant poorest were supported
Evidence: workers gave 3% annual salary to give money for food and clothing to poor in winter months
Analysis: nothing like this had been done before therefore poorest propel now felt looked after and valued because they could survive and live far more happily now that before because they could feed themselves and not be cold in the toughtest times of the year therefore melting them feel equal
How did propaganda help?
Point: celebrated workers and farmers
Evidence: work and bread painted workers in good light and made them feel like they were needed
Analysis: poor and unemployed could have change of a better life because they could not just get food but support themselves now making them feel part of a community and valued
How did traditional industries help?
Point: protecting farmers and craftsman wasn’t successful
Evidence: craftsman fell from 1.6 to 1.5 million people
Analysis: must’ve felt they weren’t doing a good job if they stopped doing it and nazis wanted more traditional industries to grow so they must’ve failed. The workers must’ve not felt valued and happy.
How did growing resentment help?
Point: quality of life decreased as prices rose and expectations of contributions were too high
Evidence: working hours up to 72 hours (from 60), food price rose
Analysis: workers had to work significantly harder and longer hours causing growing resentment and while there was more work wages increased but not as much as food prices meaning the German people weren’t as well off therefore didn’t feel as good about the nazis so the community wasn’t as close as it could’ve been
