Q

What does the e in fenland stand for and how did it help hitler achieve dictatorship?

A

Point: Enabling act gave hitler power to pass any law without permission of the reichstag.
Evidence: didn’t have the 2/3 majority he needed to change the constitution so sent in SA with guns to intimidate other parties into passing the enabling act.
Analysis: this meant he got the act which allowed him to make any laws he wanted without permission of the reichstag or Hindenburg for 4 years therefore he could do whatever he wanted to Germany and put in whatever policies he decided so no one could stop him. Nearly complete dictatorship but he could only pass laws for 4 years.

A

Point: night of long knives destroyed threat from Rohm and SA who were hard to control.
Evidence: June 30 SS arrested or killed SA leaders including rohm after he talked about taking over the army with the SA that now had 3 million members.
Analysis: this won the confidence or the army because hitler had destroyed one of their main threats who were the SA meaning they would be loyal and fight for him but the also crushed Rohm and therefore anyone who had power that could potentially overthrow him because Rohm was going behind his back demonstrating no one even those who had power could stop him so it was a dictatorship.

A

Point: Death of Hindenburg allowed chancellor and president to be combined.
Evidence: chancellor and president combined made the furher position which gave hitler power of both positions in one afte Hindenburg died on 2nd august.
