How were Jews treated from 1939-1941?

A

Point: towards mass genocide but not yet because systematic killing hasn’t started
Evidence: 140,000 died on ghettos in Poland
Analysis: they died from disease and overcrowding. Nazis new of the awful conditions but not genocide because it wasn’t systematic killing yet and so wasn’t genocide yet but clearly moving closer to being possible.

A

Point: mass murders started
Evidence: death units killed 1 million Jews in captured areas
Analysis: start of genocide because it was mass killings and systematic because they were going through areas killing all Jews they could find.

Point: proper start of the holocaust
Evidence: concentration camps converted to death camps to just kill Jews like aushwitz
Analysis: start of holocaust because systematic killing in gas chambers was occurring which killed Jews on mass so the nazis could kill as many as possible.
