What are inflammed tonsils?

A

May come from cold
and hurt when the child swallows.Treat, gargle salt water(warm), take acetaminophen, be sure the child drinks enough. Give tea or watered down juice. If the sore throat does not get better should not take antibiotics

What is chickenpox?

A

Begins 2-3 weeks after child is exposed to another child with disease. Starts with red and itchy spots that pop and turn into scabs. Treat with bathing and apply cool soaks from boiled and strained oatmeal

What are measles?

A

Severe infection that can be worse from poor nourishment and tuberco. Begins 10 days after being with an infected person. Begins with cold, fever, runny nose. Treat with liquids, food, rest, vitamin A, acetaminophen. Last for 5 days. German measles is shorter for 3-4 days and lymphs become swollen. Lower fever and can result in disability in pregnant women.

What are mumps?

A

Begins 2-3 weeks after exposure. Begins with fever or pain on the mouth and jaw can swell. Treatment includes aceta or ibu but does not need medication as it goes on its own. Can cause swell in the testicles of men.

How to fix dislocated hip?

A

Keep baby with knees high an hips apart. It is easy to diagnose with one leg stops, jumps, or clicks when opened wide. Usually, the upper leg covers part of body, there are fewer folds, and one leg seems shorter

What are hernia types?

A

Belly button requires no surgery and tying a knot may be fine. For swollen testicle (hydrocele or hernia) shining a light that goes through is a hydrocele and goes away. if the light does not shine then it may be a hernia and needs surgery.

What is cerebral palsy?

A

When child is stiff, spastic, and poor movements. When held up, legs may cross. Can be caused by meningitis or birth defect. There is no cure for this.

A
  1. rich diet
  2. dont leave children unattended
  3. use iodized salt
  4. dont smoke
  5. avoid medicines
  6. away from German measles
  7. cautious of midwife
  8. dont have more children with the same defect
  9. dont have children after 35 yrs of age
