A

220 - age (in years) = maximum heart rate
Resting heart rate - maximum heart rate x 0.7 + resting heart rate = target heart rate.

Example: 220 - 40 = 180
180 - 70 = 110 x 0.7 = 77 + 70 = 147 bpm
