How is it to visit shrines?
It is permissible by sharia. The Holy Prophet himself would do so. In Tirmizee, it is narrated that the prophet would visit his mothers grave and permitted other to do so.
What can we gain by visiting shrines?
It causes disinterest in the world and reminds one of the hereafter, as mentioned in a Hadith.
Can you kiss the shrine?
There is a difference of opinion between scholars, therefore it is better to avoid it.
What is the method of visiting the shrine?
Enter from the feet side and stand at least 4 handspans away. In a medium voice present Salam. then recite Ghausia durood thrice, surah Fatiha once, Ayat ul Kursi once, Surah Ikhlas seven times and durood Ghausia seven times. If you have time recite surah Yasin and surah milk. Make dua and include in it what you desire. Then give Salam and leave.
