What is meant by istimdad and istianat?
They are to seek help from the prophets and Auliyah while we know the true helper is Allah.
Can help be sought from the prophets and Auliyah?
Absolutely, as long as one is aware that the true help is from Allah. This is because He has given them the ability to do so because He is the owner of everything.
Allah made the Final prophet the ruler of both worlds and so he can provide help through the ability Allah has given him.
What is the evidence for help from the prophets and awliyah ?
This is proven from the Quran and Hadith. In the Quran Allah tells the wives of the Final messenger to seek help from the prophet because Allah is his helper. In Hadith, Hazrat Utba bin Ghazwan narrates that the prophet ordered the people to seek help from Allahs bondsmen.
Can help be sought from prophets and awliyah even after their demise?
Yes, we can also use wasila to ask for help after their apparent demise as all of them are alive in their graves.
Give some examples of events in which help was given.
When Imam Tabrani, Ibn Mukri, and Abu Shiekh were students, they had no food and kept fasts upon fasts. After presenting themselves in the court of the Beloved Prophet and seeking sustenance, an old man and his 2 servants knocked on the door and gave them food. He said that in a dream, the Beloved prophet had told him to give them food. There are many such events.
