2) Annulus Fibrosus (Concentric layers of Collagen)
What does the intervertebral disc consist of?
Vertebrae –>Hyaline Cartilage –>Fibrous Cartilage
What does the ligamentum flavum connect?
Laminae of adjacent vertebrae
What is the conus medullaris?
Tapered, lower end of the spinal cord
What would the epidural needle be inserted?
Between dura mater and vertebrae to inject anaesthesia
What is the filum terminale?
Fibrous strand proceeding downwards from apex of CM
What is the cauda equina?
Spinal nerves from lower spinal cord that obliquely hang downwards
What is a dermatome?
Area of skin with sensory nerve supply from a single root of the SC
What are some examples of dermatome?
Thumb: C6, Knee: L3, Big Toe: L5
What do the interspinal ligament connect?
Connect adjoining spinous processes of each ligament
What do the supraspinous ligaments connect?
Apices of spinous processes
