What does Tensor Fascia Lata become?
Iliotibial tract
What is the role of Tensor Fascia Lata?
Flexor, abductor and internal rotator of the hip
Where does iliopsoas insert and its action?
I: Lesser trochanter of femur
A: Flexes lower limb at hip
What are the 3 main long bones in lower limb?
1) Femur (Proximal)
2) Fibula (Distal and Lateral)
3) Tibia (Distal and Medial)
Which nerve innervates muscles in anterior compartment of thigh? And what is overall main action?
Femoral Nerve L2-4
Extension of the leg at the knee
What 4 muscles make up quadriceps femoris?
1) Rectus femoris
2) Vastus Medialis
3) Vastus Lateralis
4) Vastus intermedius
What attaches patella to tibia?
Patella ligament
What is the role of vasti muscles?
Extension at knee
Role and feature of Rectus Femoris?
R: Extension at knee, flexion at hip
F: Bipennate
Origin and action of sartorious?
O: ASIS (L2-4 FN)
A: Flexion, abduction and lateral rotation at hip, with flexion at knee
Innervation of medial thigh compartment and action?

What forms the borders of femoral triangle?
S: Inguinal Ligament
M: Adductor Longus
L: Sartorious
What contents found in femoral triangle?
Femoral nerve, femoral artery, femoral vein and lymph nodes
What is the saphenous opening?
Opening in fascia lata pierced by great saphenous vein, 4cm below pubic tubercle
What is the arterial pathway to femoral?
Aorta > Common Iliac > External Iliac > Femoral arteries

What are the actions of muscles in anterior leg? And innervation?
Dorsiflexion (Toes up to shin)
Inversion
I: Deep peroneal nerve L4-5 [Branch of common peroneal]
What do the extensor muscles of anterior leg do?
Extension of toes as well as dorsiflexion of foot
Which vessel supplies muscles in anterior leg?
Anterior tibial artery
How does foot drop come about?
Damage to common peroneal nerve, causing paralysis of dorsiflexors
What 2 muscles are found in lateral leg?
Fibularis Longus Fibularis Brevis (AKA Peroneal L and B)
What are the lateral leg muscle actions?
Eversion and plantarflexion
What do tendons of Fibularis brevis and longus pass posteriorly into foot?
Lateral malleolus
