Where does the hepatic portal vein enter the liver?
At the hilus of the liver.
Where will blood flow to once it leaves the liver?
Into the caudal vena cava via hepatic veins.
Can vasa recta form in veins and arteries?
Vasa recta can form veins and arteries.
Does blood from the rectum travel via the liver?
No, it travels directly into the caudal vena cava.
This means that drugs can be placed into the rectum and these drugs will go into general circulation rather than going to the liver.
What vein from the rectum drains into the caudal vena cava?
The cranial rectal vein.
