Blood Supply to the Stomach. Flashcards
What is the 1st visceral branch of the abdominal aorta?
The celiac artery.
The celiac artery delivers blood to what digestive organs?
The spleen.
The liver.
The stomach.
What is the 2nd visceral branch of the abdominal aorta?
The cranial mesenteric artery.
What organs are supplied by the cranial mesenteric artery?
The whole small intestine and part of the large intestine.
What organs are supplied by the caudal mesenteric artery?
The remainder of the large intestine.
The blood vessels that supply the organs of the digestive system are usually found on what side of the organ?
On the mesenteric side of the organ.
The opposite side of the organ only receives branches of these blood vessels.
What are the 3 branches of the celiac artery that travel to the stomach?
The hepatic artery.
The splenic artery.
The left gastric artery.
Most of the blood vessels that supply the stomach are located on what part of the stomach?
On the greater and lesser curvatures of the stomach.
They can be found on the mesenteric side of the organ.
Any blood vessels on the anti-mesenteric side will be what blood vessels?
Any blood vessels on the anti-mesenteric sides will be branches of the blood vessels from the mesenteric side.
Why should we never make incisions on the mesenteric side of the stomach?
As the blood vessels are found there.
What is the parietal side of the stomach?
The surface that makes contact with the liver.
Where are the gastric arteries found on the stomach?
On the lesser curvature.
Where are the gastroepiploic arteries found on the stomach?
On the greater curvature.
The left gastric artery runs on what surface of the stomach?
On the parietal surface and it enters the stomach in the cardiac region.
The left gastric artery will anastamose with which other artery?
The hepatic artery.
