Urinary Flashcards
Urinary Organs
list briefly their fx’s
Kidneys- do many things ie monitor blood pH, pressure, ionic composition, excrete waste, etc
Ureters transport via peristalsis
Bladder store urine
Urethra transport via discharge
Structure of post-kidney tubes
tunica mucosa- transitional epithelium
tunica muscularis- smooth muscle cells
tunica adventitia (absent in urethra)- loose c.t.
Urinary tubes ( go backwards from ureter)
Ureter Renal Pelvis Major Calyx Minor Calyx Collecting duct
Arteries (go forward)
Veins are the same so don’t bog your mind down

Urinary Tubules
collecting ducts distal convuluted tubule nephron loop proximal convoluted glomerular capsule
Renal Corpuscle
The name that refers to the glomerular capillaries and capsule surround them.
This is the sight of renal filtration. (protein free plasma fluid from blood to urinary tubular system)
Renal Tubule
This name refers to the urinary tubules which contact peritubular capillaries. Principal site of reabsorption of filtrate BACK into blood.
This is the proximal and distal convuluted tubules and nephron loop and collecting duct.
