Where a supervisor identifies the performance of a member that is less than satisfactory and the work performance deficiency cannot be corrected which form shall be used

What is a special review
A Special Review is a two–part process
1) The initial part involves an interview between the member and the unit commander, to ensure management and accommodation are not factors.
2) The second part of the Special Review will be initiated where it is identified that the work performance deficiency is a persistent situation attributable to the individual member.
What is the time frame of the special review
90 calendar days
How long is an additional review period
30 calendar days to a maximum of 90 calendar days
How long is a TPS 955 kept in the officers file
2 years
What are the responsibilities of a second level supervisor in a special review
Same as a first level supervisor
-Meet with member in private
record response of member
-ensure accommodation and management factors are remedied before continuing
-re-evaluate performance deficiency when the management practices or accommodation factors have been resolved
forward the TPS955 to the U/C
-where management practices or accommodation factors are not the root cause generate 901 or 931 at the involved supervisor
What must a second level supervisor do when detailed to co-ordinate a special review
- Assign persons with expertise to provide guidance and instruction to the member
- meet with the member and supervisor to ensure standards, plan of action, measurement means and assessment dates have been communicated
When a Special Review has concluded and it is determined that the member did not meet the standard threshold what shall be ensured
Ensure the appropriate complaint is generated
- if a police officer a 901
- if a civilian a 931
