No, when the incident arises out of a domestic situation a domestic violence investigator [DVI] shall be assigned as a lead investigator but shall work in conjunction with an accredited sexual assault investigator
If there is an ongoing risk to the community, the offender is unknown and the investigation to determine the identification of the offender is beyond the resources available at the divisional level who shall be notified? (In relation to a sexual assault investigation)
Sex crimes shall be notified in these circumstances.
If the offence is of a particularly heinous nature, includes one or more of the following criteria
- sexual assault with a weapon, sexual assault causing bodily harm, wounds, maimes, disfigures or endangerous life
- involves multiple victims
- involves multiple sexual acts, the use of restraints, bondage or wearing of a disguise by the offender
- any case where the offender records the offense in any manner
- the offender uses a call or ruse, including dating services and Internet, to lure the victim
- any sexual assault link to another sexual assault within the same or any jurisdiction
- any criminal offense, by an unknown offender, where sexual assault appears to have been the motive
- when in the commission of the sexual assault, the administration of a noxious substance or drug is used to incapacitate the victim

What shall a police officer ensure if an allegation of a sexual assault is reported within 72 hours of an incident?
The officer shall consult with the divisional sexual assault investigator, or in their absence the divisional investigator to determine whether the circumstances of the sexual assault dictate that the victim be transported to a SACC, and be guided by the following
-advise the victim of the importance of attending a hospital with a (SACC) for the purpose of personal safety and security, as well as the gathering of potential forensic evidence
When a report of a sexual assault is made after 72 hours of the incident what shall a police officer ensure?
The officer shall consult with the divisional sexual assault investigator or in their absence the divisional investigator to determine whether the circumstances of the sexual assault dictate that the victim be transported to a SACC
- encourage the victim to seek medical attention for the purpose of personal safety and security
Must a sexual assault victim be transported by ambulance to a SACC at all times?
If transportation by ambulance is not necessary, consider the use of an unmarked vehicle when transporting the victim to a SACC
Must police officers stay at the SACC centers during the victims medical examination?
Where operationally possible, wait for the victim until completion of the medical examination
May a victim use the bathroom while waiting for a medical examination in relation to the sexual assault?
Request of victim postponed avoiding whenever possible until after the medical examination, but if necessary advise the victim to avoid wiping the genital area or save the tissue for later submission with the sexual assault kit
Who collects physical and trace evidence at a crime scene involving sexual assault?
Forensic identification services officer

No, only Forensic identification services officer shall collect that evidence
