A

People may have their own separate apartment with a front door and the options of communal living in an area within the complex and a 24 hour warden or emergency care cords in case of emergency

What is residential care?

A

Residents may be old, have a health condition causing a disability or a learning disability.
Each resident has their own room and bathroom but share communal areas to eat, take part in activities or just sit, like a quiet conservatory.
Visitors can come and go as they please but safeguarding and care needs are maintained, daily.

What is respite care?

A

If the main informal carer requires a break, such as a holiday, respite care is offered.

What is temporary residential care?

A

If an older person has an accident, they may need more support that can be offered at home so temporary residential care is needed. Eg. rehab after a broken hip fall

What is a learning difficulties centre?

A

Specialist centres for people with a learning difficulty after they leave school.
Activities to stimulate and encourage friendships
Staff trained to encourage engagement.
May attend every day or 1-2 days a week, giving families respite.

What are mental health community groups?

A

In community Centres, specialist groups meet once a week or fortnight or even monthly. Offering a sense of belonging, art/music therapy or other creative and therapeutic therapies.
People discharged from hospital must have a community care package to support and monitor their progress.
