Working Model of Memory
Emphasizes short term (working memory) and divides it into 4 components
4 Components of Working Model of Memory
Central Executive, Phonological Loop, Visuospatial Sketchpad, Episodic Buffer
Central Executive
Component of working memory that is in charge and allocates information to other susbsystems of working memory
Phonological Loop
The brief store of auditory information within working memory
Visuospatial Sketchpad
The brief store of visual & spatial information in working memory
Episodic Buffer
Integrates information from LT memory with information in subsystems from working memory
Strength Of WMM
Attempting to do multiple actions from the same subsystem is difficult but is easy when different subsystems are used
Limitation of WMM
Explanation of Central Executive is very vague
