the management of an operations system will determine how efficently and effectively the business will produce GS.

Inputs
resources used in the process of production
6 categories of inputs
- natural: raw materials, parts
2.Physical: plant, machinery, equipment
3.Human: Labour
5.Financial: Funds reuiqred - In formation from a variety of sources
- Time: achieving tasks in a specific duration
Manufacturing vs service inputs
manufacturing: use more capital equipment and material, less human resources and information
Services: more reliant upon human resources and information
Processes/transformation
the conversion of inputs (resources) into outputs (GS)
E.G:
Sony takes plastic, metal, glass and other parts to transform them into numerous electronic products
Schools take students, teachers, books, study designs buildings to transform them into school leavers with knowledge and skills for further education / employment
Manufacturing vs services processes
Manufacturing: Highly automated process with use of machinery, robots ect.
Services: Labour Intensive approach
Outputs
The end results of a business’s efforts- the services or product that is delivered or provided to customers.
