A brain disorder that causes difficulty in speaking.
aphasia
Inability to see.

A brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills and inability to complete simple tasks.
Alzheimer’s Disease
A complex organ that controls all body and thought functions.

A clouding of the eye lens. Typically occurs from aging.
cataract
Made up of the brain and spinal cord. It is the body’s processing center.
Central Nervous System (CNS)
An interruption in the flow of blood to cells in the brain.
Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA or stroke)
A group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture.
Cerebral Palsy
Not being able to think clearly or quickly, feeling disorientated.
Confusion
Inability to hear
Deafness
Loss of cognitive functioning — thinking, remembering, and reasoning — to such an extent that it interferes with daily life.
Dementia
Difficulty swallowing
Dysphagia
Difficulty speaking / language disorder
Dysphasia
A disorder of the brain characterized by repeated seizures
Epilepsy
An eye disease that can caused by pressure on the optic nerve.
Glaucoma
Paralysis on one side of the body.
Hemiplegia
Disabling disease of the CNS where the immune system progressively destroys the nerve fiber sheath.
Multiple Sclerosis
A bundle of fibers that use electrical and chemical signals to transmit information from one body part to another.
Nerve
The inability to voluntarily move the lower parts of the body.
Paraplegic
Disorder cauing unintended or uncontrollable movements, such as shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination.
Parkinson’s
A form of paralysis that affects all four limbs, plus the torso.
Quadriplegia
Bursts of uncontrolled electrical activity between brain cells that cause temporary, uncontrolled muscle movements, and lack of awareness.
Seizure
The passageway between the brain and the rest of the body.
Spinal Cord
Damage to the conduit between the brain and the rest of the body.
Spinal Cord Injury
A type of injury that causes damage to the brain.
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
A sensation of motion or spinning that is often described as dizziness.
