Statistical Calculations
Mean, Median, Range
Mean
average of a set of numbers
Add them all up then divide by the amount of numbers in the set
Median
Middle number in a set of numbers
(Put the numbers in order from lowest to biggest. If there is an even amount of numbers, then you take the two middle and add them then divide by two)
Range
Subtract the smallest number from the biggest number in the set
Beaker
the kind of short fat one
Flask
the one that is smaller at the top and gets bigger as it gets to the bottom
Cylinder
the skinny tall one
Triple Beam Balance
The one with the part where you put the thing you are weighing, and then it has the three things where you slide it until it is balancing
Digital Scale
The one that looks like it is in a box and you have to lift the lid to put the thing you are weighing on the weigh thing
Pipette
the really really skinny pipe thing that you use to pick up small amounts of liquid
Pipette pump
a kind of handle cover looking thing that goes on the end of the pipette to help pick up the liquid
Weigh boat
the little boat looking thing that i think you use to put the thing you are weighing on before you put it on the digital scale?
Hot plate
looks like a plate on top of a thing with a knob to control the heat?
Stir bar
um a little stick thing???
Beaker tongs
looks like tongs that have a part that is big enough to go around a beaker and hold it
Test tube tongs
tongs that have a smaller end that fit around test tubes
Meter Stick
a long stick that is usually marked off in centimeters and millimeters
Meniscus
it is the curved part of a liquid in a container. when you are measuring the liquid you look at the meniscus, and you’d measure like the bottom of the curved part instead of the liquid on the side that is higher?
Forceps
look like tweezers
Metric Ruler
shorter stick, normally about a footish long??
maybe it measures in the metric system?
Test Tube
A thinish tube use in experiments and stuff
Test Tube Rack
A rack with a bunch of places to put test tubes
Thermometer
measures temperature, thin cylinder thingy
Freezing
0 degrees celsius = 32 degrees Fahrenheit
Room temperature
21.1 degrees celsius= 70 degrees Fahrenheit
Body temperature
37 degrees celsius= 98.6 degrees fahrenheit
Boiling
100 degrees celsius= 212 degrees fahrenheit
