How can you configure the Print Spooler in windows?
- Can be accessed by opening the computer management console window, click the >sign to expand services and applications and then click services.
- Scroll to find the print spooler service. To start a stopped service right click and select start or stop.
- A faster way to access the spooler would be to open the run window and type “ services.msc.”
How can you configure the Print Spooler service in the Task Manager?
- First access the Task manager by typing” Cntrl+Shift+Escape” or by going to run and typing “ taskmgr.exe”
- Under Services tab right click the Spooler service and select start, stop or restart service.
How can you configure the Print Spooler service in the command prompt?
- When the command prompt is open you can start the the Print Spooler Service by typing
“ net start spooler”. “ net stop spooler” stops the service.
What is something you can first do to troubleshoot printer related issues?
- Print a Test page that prints directly from the device the printer is connected to. This is directly built into Windows and doesn’t rely upon an application.
- Can also use web based utilities by downloading from vendor or use utilities built into the printer itself.
If your print output has streaks and blurs on a laser printer what could this be a sign of?
- If there is something like a line down a page then the issue maybe related to a scratched photosensitive drum that will need to be replaced.
If your print output has streaks and blurs on an inkjet printer how can this be solved?
- By cleaning the print heads.
If you have faded printing or blanks on an ink jet and on a laser printer how can this be remedied?
- On a Inkjet printer you would want to check the ink cartridge and replace if low in ink
- On a laser printer you would want to replace the toner.
If you see a ghosted image after printing from a Laser printer what is this often caused by?
- Typically this is called by the printer optical drum not being cleaned properly after the last print job. The parts may need to be cleaned or replaced.
When printing in colour on an inkjet printer and find that one of the colours is not printing correctly this is often caused by?
- Low ink in one of the colour cartridges.
- Ink cartridge may need to be cleaned or replaced.
If after printing from a Laser printer you find that after touching the page the toner smudges what is this caused by and how to fix?
- This usually caused by a fuser related problem. The fuser needs to get very hot in order to melt the toner to the page. If this doesn’t happen there will be issues keeping the toner on the page. Fuser assembly need to be replaced or temperature may need adjusting.
How can you identify a fuser inside a laser printer
- Usually a long cylinderical device that is usually brown in colour. and will have a hazard symbol close by warning of high heat.
If you are having issues with pages getting stuck inside the printer and not feeding through you may want to check what?
- Check the tray and pickup rollers and replace pickup rollers if they appear worn typically these are included in a laser printer maintenance kit.
If the paper is creased after coming out of the printer what could be the cause and solution?
- You should check the paper path and make sure nothing is blocking the papers path.
- Also may want to make sure you are using the correct weight of paper.
Most printers are connected to the Network if using a computer connected to the printer over the network you find there is no output how can you fix this?
- Make sure printer is turned on
- Check for messages on the printer such as out of toner or paper etc
- Also check cabling and wireless setup on the printer to confirm it really is connected to the network.
If when trying to print you are greeted with a Access denied message what do you need to do?
- Need to go into printer settings and then the security tab, here you can assign user privilege’s and access.
