Q

What is the difference between the 568A and 568B TIA cabling standard?

A
  • Typically 568A is used to run wire horizontally( On the same floor) Where as 568B is used for running wire vertically( to multiple levels).
  • 568A can be IDd by looking at position 1 on an RJ45 connector and should have a White/Green wire, whereas on 568B it should have a White/Orange wire in position 1.

Q

What is the difference between single mode and multimode fiber optic internet?

A
  • Single mode is used over longer distances than multimode and can support up to 10gbps speeds
and can be run much farther than twisted pair cable
  • Multi mode is usually used for connecting buildings together in close proximity as it can only carry signals up to 600 meters e.g connecting buildings on a campus
