Cloud Models( Comptia Objective 4.1) Flashcards
What is IaaS?
It is a cloud model known as Infrastructure As A Service. Or sometimes Hardware As A Service( HaaS)
How does IaaS work?
- You outsource( purchase) your needed equipment for your cloud from a 3rd party.
- You are still responsible for the management of this equipment it’s OS and applications data and for it’s security.
What is SaaS?
It is a cloud model known as Software As A Service
How does Saas work?
With Saas( Software As A Service) a Third Party provides you remote access to OS, applications and is responsible for managing it’s data for you. E.G. taking care of payroll info in cloud based accounting software. Another example would be gmail/ outlook etc which manages your email.
What is PaaS?
It is a cloud model known as Platform As A Service.
How does Paas work?
With PaaS you do not need to worry about servers, or other network equipment or for any of the software either. The platform is completely handled by a Third Party and all you are responsible for the development./ designing.
What is a con of PaaS?
You don’t have direct control of your data, people or infrastructure, trained IT professionals are watching your stuff.
Definition of a Private Cloud model?
- Your own virtualized local data center
Definition Of a Public Cloud model?
- Available to everyone over the internet
Definition Of a Hybrid Cloud Model?
- A mix of public and private cloud model.
Definition Of a Community Cloud model?
- Several organizations share the same resources.
Differences between an Internal Cloud and an External Cloud?
- Internal Cloud means no resources are shared, you build you own model, pay for everything up front but then have no ongoing costs
- External Cloud means you share resources with a public cloud, owned by a third party, cost may be metered up front.
What is a metered cloud service?
- You pay for what you use, cost to upload, store and download.
What is a Non-metered cloud service?
- You pay for a block of storage
- No cost to upload
- No cost to download fixed amount paid as flat fee.
When it comes to Cloud computing characteristics what does Rapid Elasticity mean?
- Ability to scale up or scale down as needed
- Seamless to everyone.
